CVM Wellbeing Resource Database
At NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, we value our community by being attentive to one another's wellbeing, and by making time for each other and for ourselves.
We all navigate through life in our own ways, facing different challenges, but often don't realize how much we can relate to one another's experiences, joys, and sorrows. Our struggles can often feel like solitary endeavors; a load we must bear ourselves. But we are not alone in our struggles, and help is out there.
In observation of National Suicide Prevention Awareness Week 2021, we provided our community with a list of actionable, credible, accessible resources for different kinds of support they might need, so that they can seek it out when they need it. Resources specifically for students or employees are listed, as well as those for the CVM community or the general public. The hope was that this list provides a variety of options, and can be browsed at-a-glance, all in one place. The list can be viewed online in Google Sheets and is accessible to all.
Listed resources were selected for ease of use, credibility, and actionability. There are Support Services listed to help with getting the support you need over time, and Crisis Resources listed in the event that you need support urgently. There are also resources for Be(ing) a Part of Prevention, for those who want to prepare themselves with tools for supporting someone in crisis.
This is a living list - it is extensive, but not absolute, and it can grow and change over time. If you have a resource you'd recommend we add, edit or remove, please contact Julia Rice at jcrice3@ncsu.edu.
